Affirmations For Life

Affirmations are great tools that can help you overcome fear, build your confidence, develop an abundance mind-set and more. The problem is that many people aren’t sure exactly how to write effective affirmations. Do they always have to be in present tense? Can they contain “negative” words like can’t, won’t, not, and so on?

There are plenty of differing opinions on the right and wrong ways to write effective affirmations, but the bottom line is that an affirmation can be considered effective if it works for YOU! The whole point of affirmations is to shift your thoughts and emotions to a more positive place so you feel more confident, happy, secure, abundant, or anything else you’re trying to accomplish.

Take a look at the sample affirmations below for starters and feel free to use them if they resonate with you. If not, try altering them slightly until they trigger the mind-set and emotional state you’re trying to attain.

Giving Thanks

Life is an incredible journey. It has its riches as well as it’s hard times but what counts is how we deal with those circumstances.

I’ve noticed with so many of my clients that they dwell on the hard times, they really notice it but when the good times come they just let it pass on by without thanks.

Basically what I mean here is when life hits the fan we quickly ask for help, even non believing folk quickly turn to God to get them out of a tricky situation…

To have a life that is filled with happiness we must first acknowledge the good is there. Giving thanks everyday may seem crazy but really it’s a way of saying thank you to the universe for helping you out.

I’m pretty sure if someone you helped tomorrow didn’t say thanks afterwards you would be pretty frustrated, I’m equally sure if they said thank you, you would be willing to help them again.
So when you have great things happening in your life, say thank you. That way the universe is going to be more willing to help you again.

It’s the universal rule of attraction, what you give out you get back three fold. It’s pretty hard to live a life like this to begin with but with more practice the better you become. It’s reprogramming your mind which is the hard bit but you’ll get there.

Always remember, thoughts become things! What you create in your mind you will create in reality. Your life can change more than you could ever imagine by taking these new steps.

10 Steps To Inner Peace

Accept what is

There is only so much we can affect. What we cannot change, what we cannot influence no matter what, should not be a concern to us. This is what I notice with so many people, in that we focus and linger on things which we have no control over. Why worry about something that all the worrying in the world will not change? Why care about what other people think of us when we’re not even sure what it is they are actually thinking? Once you open the blinds to this fact, and start accepting what is that you cannot change, you automatically relieve yourself of a mountain of stress and anxiety. It’s like a huge weight has been lifted from your shoulders. Taking this path is following a road towards peace.

Meditate

If you do not meditate yet, you are missing out on a very important activity that can change your life. Meditating for 20 minutes daily can have an enormous impact in all areas of your life. If you have a lot on your mind and you feel like your thoughts are driving you crazy, meditation can help you find peace. Simply close everything, sit back, close your eyes, and clear your mind of every single thought. Focus on the emptiness. You will be surprised what a mere 20 minutes of meditation can do to turn things around for you. If you have trouble meditating, I would suggest getting a professional
guided meditation CD which will help you get used to this level of peacefulness.
Spend time in nature

We spend so much time confined in buildings of steel and concrete and bricks that we quickly forget where we come from. It is natural for us to be in nature, and this is why it feels so good and it is so peaceful when you take a walk in a park or bike on a trail in the forest. If you feel overwhelmed, take a stroll outside where there are tons of trees. Be there and just enjoy the sights, the sounds, and the peace.
Learn the power of a smile

Whenever you are laughing or smiling, something interesting happens. Not only does something happen on a chemical level to make you feel better, but it also stops all stress and negativity from entering your psyche. A simple smile can make such a difference. For example, the other day I dropped a plate and it fell on the floor, breaking into pieces, creating a big mess. Now, I could have been angry with myself for being clumsy and thinking negatively. But I did the opposite. I began to smile and kind of made fun of myself for not being able to hold on to that plate properly. As I cleaned up the mess, there was no bitterness or anger. As a matter of fact, I did it with a smile on my face…I did it with peace. So whenever you find yourself in a similar predicament, just think of the silver lining, and don’t be shy to poke fun at yourself. You will quickly realize that peace finds its way much more easily to you when you smile.
Think outwardly

What I mean by this is that most of the time, we are so consumed within our own problems that we can no longer see the forest from the trees. Therefore, it helps to remind ourselves how big the world is. Take a moment and read up about some other countries, cultures, and the likes. Be aware that the world does not revolve around your problems. I find that when I hear about a tsunami or an earthquake killing hundreds of thousands of people on the other side of the world, my problems aren’t really “problems”. Looking beyond ourselves is very important in finding peace and it leads me to my next point.
Care about others

You will never find peace by being self-consumed and only worrying about your own needs and wants. When you begin to genuinely care about other people, so much goodness comes right out. This only helps into solidifying your inner peace. It can be people close to you or pure strangers, but any act of kindness and goodwill eases your way towards peace. When I help other people, I stop focusing on my so-called problems and realize that my life isn’t so bad after all. This rids my entire being of all the stress and feelings of overwhelm. There is great peace and wisdom in thinking and caring about other people, which we are blind to when we are too deep within our own selfish ways.
Never lose hope

Hope is something you can never afford to lose. With hope you always have a path towards peace. Whenever we get too stressed out and overwhelmed within our own life, we forget that hope. We forget that the sun always shines after a rainy day, and that this is merely a bump in the road. I find immense peace in just knowing, deep within my heart, that everything will be ok. With hope, I know that whatever is seemingly terrible, is only temporary and that soon enough, things will be just fine. This lifts off all of that negativity from my entire being, and I feel better pretty much instantly.
Embrace your beliefs

I am not one to pick or favou
r one belief system over another, so whatever it is that you believe in, embrace it with your entire being. Be within your faith 100% and peace will find its way into your heart. Now, we may all disagree on each other’s beliefs but one thing we must all agree on is that having a solid, healthy faith is crucial in founding a proper conscience that helps into guiding us towards peace and wisdom. There is a reason why research has shown that people that are deeply devoted to their faith have a higher life expectancy and are less likely to have diseases such as cancer. This is because they experience more inner peace, which is important if you want to increase the quality of your life.
Keep learning

One thing that provides us with much stress in life is the fact that we always worry about not having all the answers. Just accepting that you do not know everything, and that you are open to always keep learning is a tremendous step to take towards achieving inner peace. I find great joy in learning all kinds of different things, and just being aware that I am growing as a person each and every day provides me with great feelings of peace. Accept that life is one big journey of never-ending learning and you will find yourself closer to experiencing true peace within yourself.
Live in the present moment

Most of the time, what we worry about is relating to something either in the past, or something that hasn’t happened. Living in the present moment erases all such thoughts. Why worry about something in the past that we cannot ever change? (see point #1, accept what is). Why worry about something that we are not even sure will happen or not? This is why in the present moment, you find true inner peace. In the present moment, there are no problems and no concerns. There is only stillness, and it is within that stillness that you can uncover peace. I used to be such a person that worried all the time, to the point where I had trouble sleeping. Once I learned to live in the present moment, I stopped thinking about the past and any potential future, and just worried about being ever-present in each and every moment. My life is definitely more peaceful since then!

Connection With Your Guides & Angels

If you are sincere and attempt to raise your consciousness through regular meditation, you are likely to feel the invisible presence of your spirit guides and angels. Many people find this an exciting experience, but it is important to remember that it is a normal part of your spiritual unfoldment. Just because you have made contact with your guide/angel it does not mean that you are in any way unique, or chosen for a special destiny. It is important to remain modest and keep your feet firmly on the ground. It is also advisable to avoid "guide worship." The guides that help us with our life are spiritually advanced beings but, like us, have limitations.
It is spiritually beneficial for you to establish a communication in this life for this will help you to accelerate your spiritual unfoldment as well as prepare you for the life to come. It may take many years to develop a full rapport with your guides/angels. This is best accomplished by sitting in regular meditation with like-minded people with a similar intent. What is particularly helpful is a medium who can guide your group. Unfortunately, it is now difficult to find good teaching mediums, but this method will get you started on your journey to spiritual understanding.
An easy technique to meet your Spirit Guides and Angels

Step 1.
You need to establish a regular time to sit for meditation in order to attune yourself to your guides/angels. The guides/angels are also eager to establish a connection and need to know when they can draw close. Self-discipline is important so that the guide only draws close when he/she is invited to do so. A regular time for attunement helps both sides to blend your consciousness.
Step 2. Sit upright in a comfortable chair and let go of all stress, allowing yourself to slip into a deeply relaxed state. As you become more relaxed you will notice your breathing slowing down. Let the warm feeling of relaxation spread upward from your toes and feet until your whole body is completely relaxed.
Step 3. Once you are completely relaxed, you will notice that your mind is slowing down. For a while just enjoy being in this comfortable state. You are totally relaxed yet remain alert and awake.
Step 4. The spirit guides are able to influence your consciousness when your mind is quiet and still. This allows them to align their rate of vibration with your own. Within this stillness you will become aware of the gentle loving vibrations of your guides. At no time are you in any danger and you are always in complete control. You are establishing a spirit-to-spirit communication and at no stage can the guide, or anything else for that matter, take you over.
Step 5. During this state you may have a glimpse of someone who was known to you and who loved you, such as a wife, husband, or a parent. These clairvoyant visions may make you feel happy and inspired. Be encouraged if you see swirling colours or visions from your own mind, as this shows that your mind is opening to new ideas and inspiration. Also, be aware that not everybody "sees" the spirit people. It is just as valid to inwardly "hear" or "feel" your spirit guides.
Step 6. Pay close attention to everything you experience during meditation. The thought processes you are having will help to strengthen the link between you and the spirit world. You may also discover that this technique increases your ability to communicate telepathically with people in this world as well as in the next.
Step 7. It is most important to realize that what is happening is real. You are being given guidance from intelligent spirit people. Broaden the bridge between you by inwardly thanking them when you believe that you have been given a glimpse of your guide/angel or have intuitively received some helpful information. Your thoughts are potent forces that go out from you and influence the world. They will be received by those in the spirit--even if you are not aware that they have "heard" you.
Step 8. Be patient. Do not bombard your guides/angels with a stream of requests. You may, of course, ask the occasional question, but the answer may not always come immediately. You will get a reply when you are ready to receive it. You will not be receptive while you are straining your intellect, reaching for the expected answer. Your answer may come though during meditation, or during a later period of reflection. It may be given to you coincidentally, such as an overheard conversation, or something you read in a book. Know that you will be guided.
Step 9. Discovering the identity of your guide/angel is not of primary importance. It does not matter whether your guide was a great saint, philosopher, pauper, or king. What matters is the quality of the spirit person who is helping you. It is often the most humble people who live the most spiritual lives. Do remember, however, that even though they are part of a hierarchy of angelic beings dedicated to helping people with a spiritual intent, these guiding spirits are limited beings, like us.
Step 10. Your most important insights will come in the form of a silent influence, as these spiritual beings blend with your own character and thought. They will help you overcome your negative traits, inspire you in times of crisis, help you rid yourself of selfishness, and enable you to become a better person. Intervention by angels, throughout time, has been accepted as an important part of most religions and faith systems.

Inspirational Writing

Our brain is like a receiving station and only when we tune into the right frequency, do the messages and information become readily available - much like a radio transmitter which picks up the frequency of the cosmic memory bank (also known as the Akashic Records).
The akashic records (akasha is a Sanskrit word meaning "sky", "space" or "aether") is a term used in theosophy (and Anthroposophy) to describe a compendium of mystical knowledge encoded in a non-physical plane of existence. These records are described as containing all knowledge of human experience and the history of the cosmos. They are metaphorically described as a library; other analogues commonly found in discourse on the subject include a "universal computer" and the "Mind of God". People who describe the records assert that they are constantly updated and that they can be accessed through astral projection. The concept originated in the theosophical movements of the 19th century. It is frequently used in New Age discourse.
Quite often, we can become overwhelmed with too much information. It is important to focus on the subject matter and have the intention to write on a specific theme - like a search engine honing in on requested Internet listings. This process activates the mind and starts the procedure.

It is the ability to literally take down the information instantaneously, without a moment's hesitation, as it forms into an identifiable pattern within the conscious mind. People from every walk of life have been known to talk about being "in the flow" as they feel their own immersion into a unified field of potential which is readily available to all.

Below is a simple ten step method that will help to release this ability. You will remain completely conscious of what you are writing while allowing your creative inspiration to enter and flow freely - being able to stop at any given time.

Inspirational Writing Technique

1. Have everything at the ready..... paper, pen/pencil.

2. Light a candle. Say a little prayer or affirmation and ask for Divine Guidance to inspire and protect you. You can address this to The Source, Personal Guides or to your higher self if you wish.

3. Sit in a comfortable position and listen to a meditation CD of your choice this begins to calm the nervous system and slow down the beta activity of the brain.

4. Now enter into meditation by concentrating on your breathing and slowing it down very gently to activate the alpha state which acts as a bridge between the conscious and subconscious mind.

5. When you feel ready, have a symbol in your mind that you will always use to start the writing (i.e. an open door, a cross within a circle), Select a symbol that is very personal to you.

6. Activate the writing. Now you have attuned and prepared yourself, there are numerous ways to activate the writing. Forms of activation may be the personal significance behind: (a) A recent dream (b) a particular symbol in that dream or (c) the formulation of any question.

7. Quietly listen. The words may be heard telepathically. Begin to write, do NOT edit or evaluate. Write the first words that come to mind. Keep writing until you feel you have finished.

8. Sit quietly afterwards and give thanks for the information you have received. If you have used the symbol of the open door, make sure you close it when you have finished writing. This prevents unwanted ideas and thoughts from flooding your brain. Always remember you are in control and can start and stop whenever you please.

9. Read what has been given to you, then put your writings away. Try not to re-read what you have written for a certain length of time - anything from a week onwards. After this time you may read and be noticeably surprised at how the writings fit into your life.

10. Finally, keep a writing journal to keep track of your progress.

These steps are the most effective way I know to erase the fear of writer's block. The next time you find yourself staring at a blank page, remember these ten steps and know that there exists a spiritual/meditative process which can help awaken any literary muse.

Follow Your Gut!

Follow your gut instincts! Everyone has one but through the years we have lost the inner voice or the gut instinct to act on things. Life has become easier for us. We no longer have to rely on instincts to survive and to feed ourselves. So much easier to pop to Tesco and whack dinner in the microwave for 5 minutes!

So where do we use instincts now? Have you ever had an overwhelming feeling inside to do or not do something but went against it to later find out why you should have listened!

The instinct can be found in the tummy. This area is a very emotional part of our body. If you have ever fallen in love and your tummy flips or something goes wrong and you feel sick to the pit of your tummy. I call it the second brain, the useful one! An interesting fact that scientists have actually found nerve endings in the solar plexus area that are akin to the brains nerve endings.

I use my intuition everyday in my work. Intuition covers psychic links - Clairaudience (Clear hearing) Clairvoyance (Clear Vision) Clairsentience ( Clear Feelings)

Gut instinct comes under the latter psychic link (Clairsentience) or known as clear feelings.

So, how do you work out when your gut instinct is kicking in?

When something is being repeated to you over and over again in your feelings.

Example -

Don't go that way
He's really not right for me
Don't buy the car/house etc
Don't invest
Go for the 2nd job offer
This place is perfect

If you have something pressing in your life right now and you want to know what to do. Just sit in peace. Place your hand on your tummy, close your eyes and ask the question and see what answers you get back. Listen to the first voice, it will be your own voice but listen to the first answers back. You will then get other answers coming back after the first voice. This is your brain in the head making you doubt yourself. The art and the secret in defining what is right for you is listening to the first voice. Practice makes perfect so don't give up. Keep trying and you'll be amazed at the life you begin to create for yourself.

The Comfort

Has anyone felt their loved ones around them after their passing? I lost a dear friend in 1996 in a car crash. My world was tipped up side down when he went, though I had a deep spiritual believe it didn't take away the pain of loss.

On the day of the funeral everything that could go wrong did. With everything going belly up I arrived just in the nick of time but couldn't get inside the church due to the numbers of people that had turned out to see Sean off. I arrived at St Thomas of Canterbury Church and couldn't believe my eyes when I saw hundreds of people outside the church.

At first I was so annoyed as I wanted to be inside but looked around me and saw so many familiar faces. All those negative feelings subsided as we shared our grief together.

When Sean arrived I just went into utter shock. I felt sick to my stomach seeing his girlfriend and family walking behind his coffin. It was at that moment that I felt someone grip my shoulder if to say its OK. I turned to the person expecting one of my mates to be next to me but there was noone within touching distance. Within seconds I just felt so much love, comfort and peace in my heart and mind. I felt positive energy all around me. My tears still flowed but I just felt utter peace.

I went on to have the same experience at Sean's grave. I would go up there nearly everyday after his passing. For a short period of time I felt that grip on my shoulder. On the last experience I knew that would be my last with Sean. I have never felt him since. I know he is happy in spirit and not feeling him around me doesn't bother me at all as I know he has moved on to a place of eternal bliss.

I would love to hear of any experiences you have had. Please do share them with us. x
